About Us

ONCE UPON A TIME…

Old John’s has been part of the Upper West Side’s heartbeat since 1951.

Where mornings begin, stories are shared, friendships are made, and countless memories linger long after the plates are cleared.

What started as a tiny spot on 66th and Broadway became a second home for neighbors, artists, teachers, families, and anyone who needed a warm meal and a familiar face. When the block was redeveloped in 1998, Old John’s simply moved one block north to 67th Street, bringing its regulars and its charm along with it.

Over the decades, the diner has seen thoughtful updates, including a recent expansion and the addition of a full-service horseshoe bar. But the spirit of Old John’s has never changed

The Art Deco lighting, black-and-white mosaic tile floors, and classic diner booths still anchor the space, giving the restaurant its timeless New York character. Many of the team members have been here for ten, fifteen, or even twenty years, a true reflection of the loyalty and heart behind Old John’s.

After a brief closure in 2020, Old John’s was lovingly revived, preserving everything people cherished while elevating the experience.

Today, you’ll find the same comfort food you grew up with but made with fresh ingredients, extra care, and a touch of modern flair. From house-made desserts to signature cocktails, every detail is crafted to feel familiar yet special.

Most importantly, Old John’s remains what it has always been: a quintessential New York diner where everyone is treated like family. Whether you’re stopping in for a classic burger and fries, gathering around a booth with friends, or ending the night at the bar, you’ll always find a warm welcome waiting for you here.
